The purpose of the following is to inform potential buyers
as well as current residents/owners of oak meadows ranch subdivision about
current dog control ordinances so that owner accountability and prevention of
nuisance and/or potential harm from dogs-at-large is achieved, and to create a
"good-neighbor policy" with regard to pets in general.

Excerpts Dog control Resolution of Garfield County, Exhibit A:
Section 1. Definitions:
(I) Running
at large:
A dog off the premises of the owner and not under the (1) physical, or
(2) visible and audible, control of a person competent to restrain a dog by
those methods. A dog entering the private property of any person other than the
owner shall be considered to be running at large, unless such intrusion is done
with the specific permission of the owner.
(J)
Vicious dog:
Any dog that bites or attacks a person, livestock or wildlife or threatens to
attack or terrorize a person, livestock or wildlife on public or private
property of in any public place.
Section 2. Running at large
restricted.
Prohibition. it shall be unlawful for an owner to permit his or her dog to run
at large. violation of section 2 shall be punished as provided in section 11.
Second conviction when violation occurs within one year of first conviction: $100 plus any court costs.
A third conviction relating to a single dog and occurring within the life of that dog, as well as any convictions thereafter, shall result in a fine of not less than $250 plus costs. the third conviction and any conviction thereafter shall additionally result in a mandatory appearance before the court.
When a dog which is subject of a violation is determined to be a vicious dog as defined herein, the fine shall be three (3) times the amount otherwise provided, subject to limitations provided by law.

Step
1: Personal contact with offending pet owner/caretaker;
documented in the event step two is required..
Step 2:
Contact Animal Control officer with signed victim/witness
statement as provided /required by county with copy to
applicable oak meadows homeowner's associations.
Step 3:
Follow-through from initial filed statement to dispensation
of subject cases as provided by law.
